An engine apparatus comprising an internal combustion engine including a combustion chamber, and a fuel supply system including a fuel injector communicating with the combustion chamber, a pump for pumping fuel to the fuel injector such that a first portion of the fuel is supplied to the combustion chamber by the fuel injector and a second portion of the fuel bypasses the fuel injector, and an arrangement for recovering energy from the second portion of the fuel.
