PURPOSE:To improve the critical current density of the subject material by preliminarily calcining cleavable oxide superconductor powder or a molded product thereof, calcining the product on a single crystal plate of MgO or SrTiO3 at a specific temperature and subsequently gradually cooling the calcined product. CONSTITUTION:Oxide superconductor powder such as Y1Ba2Cu3O7-delta having excellent cleavability is molded by a press method, etc., heated in a semi-melting state at a temperature of 950-1200 deg.C and subsequently quenched to room temperature. The thermally treated product is placed on a single crystal substrate having a crystal direction of (100) or (110) such as MgO or SrTiO3, heated at 800-1100 deg.C for 10 hours or more and subsequently gradually cooled. The thermal treatment provides a rhombic system oxide superconductor material having a C axis oriented in a constant direction and having a large critical current density Jc. |
