<p>PURPOSE:To sensitively and safely detect a nucleic acid for diagnosis, etc., of hereditary diseases using a simple operation by reacting a sample nucleic acid with a probe nucleic acid, labeling only the resultant hybrid and subsequently detecting the labeled hybrid utilizing the label. CONSTITUTION:In detection of a nucleic acid by reacting a sample nucleic acid with a probe nucleic acid and analyzing the presence or the absence of formation of a specimen nucleic acid-probe nucleic acid hybrid in the reaction mixture, the specimen nucleic acid in the sample is detected by fixing the probe nucleic acid having a nucleotide chain length shorter than 1/10 of that of the sample nucleic acid to a carrier, bringing the sample nucleic acid into contact therewith for a reaction between them, labeling only the resultant hybrid produced in the reaction mixture and subsequently detecting the labeled hybrid utilizing the label. In addition, the chain length of the probe nucleic acid is preferably <=100 bases.</p> |
