PURPOSE:To perform free variation of a running mode according to preference of a driver by a method wherein a target value decided in relation to an acceleration control amount is limited to a value lower than a maximum value so as not to exceed a range set by a change range set means. CONSTITUTION:An electronic control device 56 inputs signals from a throttle sensor 58, input and output rotation sensors 62 and 64 of a continuously variable transmission 14, and a shift position sensor 68, and changes an oil pressure in a hydraulic cylinder 26 on the primary side through a change gear ratio control valve 38 to shift a gear. In this case, an engine rotation speed or a change gear ratio decided in relation to an acceleration control amount of an accel pedal 52 is set to a value not exceeding a change width set by a setter 70, namely, the engine rotation speed or the change gear ratio is limited between a maximum set value being below the maximum allowable rotation speed of an engine 10 and a minimum set value exceeding an engine rotation speed during disengagement of a clutch 12. This constitution changes the acceleration running mode of a vehicle throughout a range of from a running mode where priority is given to acceleration to a running mode where priority is given to quietness. |
