PURPOSE: To perform programming before reprofiling work, and limit set parameters of a machine after or simultaneously by measuring the rail grinding section areas in the vertical and horizontal directions to determine the minimum number of tool passing times. CONSTITUTION: Rails are divided into a fixed number of parts, and concerning the rails of the respective parts, the average amplitude of vertical waveform and the average contour of the rail head are measured along the sections to compare the measured average contour with the reference contour. The rail grinding sectional area caused by a distortion of the contour in the horizontal direction of the rail and the rail grinding sectional area caused by the abrasion in the vertical direction of the rail are determined. Subsequently, the total grinding sectional area of the rails is determined, and the rail grinding capability of a tool and the tool passing frequecy as a function of working speed are determined. Numerical values are substituted for the working speed and output to obtain the optimum passing frequency, and these are recorded to program for performing reprofiling work. |
