PURPOSE:To prevent a transmission gear from inadvertently rotating before the engagement of a clutch gear and the transmission gear by a method wherein the clutch gear comprises a flange part for inhibiting the rotation of the transmission gear by abutting, a start tooth for engaging with the predetermined tooth of the transmission gear, and a nonengaging part for facing the transmission gear. CONSTITUTION:A clutch gear 4 rotates with the rotation of a lead screw 2, but in a positional relation a start tooth 4c1 and a start tooth 21b1 cannot engage with each other and a drive tooth 21b2 and a flange 21h can abut on a flange 4a of the gear 4. Therefore, a timing gear 21 cannot rotate in both directions. When a recording head 9 travels and a carrier 6 presses the clutch gear 4, in the travel process of the gear 4 and the gear 21 a positional relation that the start teeth 4c1 and 21b1 can be engaged with each other is established. When the gear 4 rotates with the travel of a lead pin 7 from a groove 3c to a groove 3b, a curved face part 4b as a non-engaging part is disposed so as to face the gear 21 in close proximity to the gear 21 until the start teeth 4c1 and 21b1 are engaged with each other. In this manner, there is no possibility that the gear 21 may move inadvertently. |
