PURPOSE:To improve the cleanability for HC and the ignitability in low temp. by constituting a catalyst converter device in such a way that the catalyst consisting of only Pd is disposed in the influent side of exhaust gas and the catalyst consisting of Rh and Pt, etc., in the effluent side of gas. CONSTITUTION:The catalyst converter device is constituted in such a way that the catalyst A contg. only Pd is disposed in the influent side of exhaust gas and the catalyst B contg. Rh and Pt, or Rh, Pt and Pd is disposed in the effluent side of exhaust gas. In this case, it is necessary that the volume ratio A to B of the catalyst A and the catalyst B is (1 to 8)-(3 to 1). Pd, Rh or Pt is supported by metallic oxide such as activated alumina, alpha-alumina, silica, etc. In this converter device, the ignitability in low temp. is improved as well as the cleanability when air-fuel ratio is rich in high temp., and especially, the cleanability for HC is improved. |
