PURPOSE: To prevent a print image or a mark from being rubbed or stained, by containing fatty alcohol dispersed in water-based latex. CONSTITUTION: This magnetic thermal transfer ribbon 20 has a substrate 22 and a thermal coating 24 which consists of fatty alcohol, water-based latex, a surface active agent and a magnetic iron oxide and is a mixture dispersed in isopropyl alcohol. This mixture may be dispersed also in N-propanol or drinking water in place of the isopropyl alcohol. The substrate includes a 14-35 gage polyester film or a 14-35 gage capacitor tissue. The thermal coating dries at a temperature of 160-200 deg.F, while the weight thereof is about 5.5-8.5 g/m<2> . Moreover, the thermal coating may contain also methyl cellulose, an antioxidant and amide wax. |
