PURPOSE:To increase the specific surface area of an oxide as a decomposition product obtd. by thermally decomposing a desulfurizing agent, to effectively utilize the residence time in a firing furnace and to increase the rate of utilization of the desulfurizing agent by blowing the oxide into the temp. region of <=1,000 deg.C in the furnace and causing a desulfurization reaction. CONSTITUTION:Pulverized coal is burned with a low NOx burner 2 fitted to a firing furnace 1. A carbonate type desulfurizing agent such as calcium carbonate or dolomite is sent from a feed line 3 and thermally decomposed by heating to about >=700 deg.C with a heater 4 to form CaO. This CaO is blown from a nozzle 5 into the temp. region of <=1,000 deg.C in the furnace 1 and the concn. of SO2 in exhaust gas is lowered in accordance with the amt. of Ca fed. Since the decomposition product obtd. by thermally decomposing the carbonate type desulfurizing agent is not sintered in the furnace 1, the rate of utilization of the desulfurizing agent is increased and a high rate of desulfurization is attained.
|
