The protection system for computers is tasked with protecting the latter against mains failures. Associated with an invertor, it stops all the tasks and activities in operation at the moment of the mains failure after a predetermined time chosen by the user. This is accomplished by means of programmed stop functions whose role is to close the files being processed according to the procedures of the management system of the computer. When the mains is restored, the protection system reinitialises the procedures for starting up the computer. This protection system is aimed more particularly at computers equipped with managing software of the UNIX type and derivatives.
