Thick self-adhesive layers (I) are produced by mixing a solvent-free, COOH gp. -contg. polymer (II) with a mixt. of radiation-polymerisable monomers, photoinitiator and crosslinker, forming a layer and polymerising the mixt. (II) has self-adhesive properties, amt. of monomer mixt. is 5-50 wt.% w.r.t. total mixt., monomer mixt. contains 85-98 wt.% tackifying (meth)acrylate ester(s) (III), 0.5-14 wt.% vinylcarboxylic acid(s) (IV) and 0.05-5 wt.% polyfunctional (meth)acrylatel(s) (V); (III) form homopolymers with Tg below -39 deg.C (IV) is (meth)acrylic, beta-acrylyloxypropionic, vinylacetic, trichloroacrylic, dimethylacrylic, crotonic, fumaric, aconitic and/or itaconic acid, (V) is a glycol di(meth) acrylate (ethylene, butylene, hexylene, decamethylene, etc. a triol tri(meth)acrylate, (trimethylolpropane, pentaerythritol glycerol, trimethylolpropane-ethoxy) and/or pentaerythritol tetra(meth)acrylate, photoinitiators are benzophenone, benzil derivs., benzoin derivs., dialkoxyacetophenones, hydroxyalkylphenones, etc. crosslinkers are polyisocyanates, metal acid esters, metal chelates or alcoholates, epoxy-, aziridine-, triazidine- or MF-resin; radiation for curing is UV, visible light, electron beam, highly-accelerated ions, neutrons, deuterons or alpha particles. USE/ADVANTAGE - For prodn. of solvent-resistant, highly-elastic, self-adhesive articles. The adhesive layers obtd. (on self-adhesive tape, etc.) have good viscoelastic properties and mechanical strength, and excellent resistance to polar organic solvents, e.g. acetone.
