Internal calculi or stones in a patient's body are broken up by means of shock waves which are generated externally and then focussed on to the site in the patient's body. At the same time the operation is observed by means of X-rays. The X-ray appts. consists of an X-ray tube (RR) mounted at one end of a C-shaped support with an image intensifier (BV) at the other end. The appts. includes two laser beam generators (L1,L2) arranged so that their beams intersect each other at the centre of curvature of the support. The X-ray appts. is positionally adjusted with the aid of a therapy unit (TE) using a metal ball (K), mounted on a support (T), as a reference element.
