PURPOSE:To replace the programs for each remote device by providing a replacement mode instruction means, a transfer start instruction means, a program storage means, a replacement start instruction means, and a parallel transfer means to a host device and also providing a replacement mode instruction storage means and a duplex storage means to each remote device respectively. CONSTITUTION:When a program replacement mode instruction is received from a replacement mode instruction means 1 of a host device 100, a remote device 200 holds the mode instruction via a replacement mode instruction storage means 7. Then a program transfer start instruction means 2 instructs the transmission of a new program stored in a storage means 3. Thus the new program is transmitted via a data parallel transfer means 5 and held in each device 200 via one of two duplex storage means 8. When the transfer of the new program is through, the device 100 instructs the replacement of programs to the device 200 via a replacement start instruction means 4. Then the device 100 starts a program replacement executing means 9. As a result, the replacement of programs is attained for each device 200 with no manual intervention.
