PURPOSE:To reproduce the intended gradation and color without effects on colors, smoothness and the like of the surface of recording paper by transferring a white undercoat layer on the recording paper, and performing thermal ink- transfer recording with a thermal head through an ink sheet. CONSTITUTION:Recording paper 20 is sent with a platen 7. A porous white undercoat layer 11 is transferred on the recording paper 20 with a fusing transfer roller 12 before color printing. Then thermal ink-transfer recording is performed on the recording paper 20 on which the white undercoat layer 11 is applied with a thermal head 6 through an ink sheet 10. Since the white undercoat layer 11 which is a substrate covers the surface of the recording paper 20 before the color transfer with the ink sheet 10, the surface of the recording paper 20 becomes uniform in white color. The recording paper is not affected with the smoothness or the color of the surface of the recording paper. Thus, the full-colored recording image characterized by the uniform high quality can be realized. |
