A herbicide consists of (A) one or more 2-benzoylcyclohexanedione derivs. of formula (I) or their salts and (B) one or more of the following: D-2-(4-(6-chlorobenzoazole-2-yloxy)phenoxy)-propionic acid ethyl ester (II), or the D,L-racemic mixt., 3,7-dichloroquinoline-8-carboxylic acid and its salts, N-(ethylthiocarbonyl)-azepan, N,N-diethylcarbamic acid -4-chlorobenzylthio ester, N-(butoxymethyl)-2-chloro-N-(2,6-diethylphenyl)-acetamide, N-(2-propoxy-ethyl)-2-chloro-N-(2,6-diethylphenyl) acetamide, 3,5-bis(methylthiocarbonyl) -2-difluoromethyl-4-(2-methylpropyl -6-trifluoromethyl pyridine or 2-(1,3-benzthiazol-2-yloxy)-N-methyl-acetanilide. R1 = halogen, 1-4C alkoxy, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C haloalkyl, NO2, CN or S(O)nR10; R2 and R3 = each H, halogen, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, 1-4C haloalkoxy, 1-4C haloalkyl, CN, NO2, S(O)mR11, NR12R13, NR14COR15, COR16; R4, R6, R7, R8, R9 = each H or 1-4C alkyl; R5 = H, 1-4C alkyl or COO(1-4C)alkyl; R10 = 1-4C alkoxy; R11= 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C haloalkyl, Ph, benzyl or NR17R18; R12 and R13 = each H or 1-4C alkyl; R14 = H or 1=4C alkyl, R15 = 1-4C alkyl; R16 = H, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C haloalkyl, or 1-4C alkoxy; R17 and R18 = each H or 1-4C alkyl; m and n = each 0,1 or 2. USE/ADVANTAGE - The mixt. of components (A) and (B) is synergistic and has a broad spectrum of activity against mono-and di-cotyled on weeds, including prennial weeds normally difficult to combat, such as those propagated by thizones, root stock or other long lasting organs.
