In a method of reclamation of ground contaminated with heavy metals or oil residues, the earth in the contaminated area is removed and homogenised to distribute contaminants uniformly. The excavated region (4) is flattened and provides with a seal (9,10) e.g, of clay. A manhole (11) is positioned in the region of theseal (10) at the base, with a shaft (13) for collection of water samples. The homogenised earth is mixed with an alkali binder and returned to the excavation on top of the seal. ADVANTAGE - Low cost, not requiring special treatments.
