Proposed is a type of protective cladding for electrical machinery, in particular for starters of internal-combustion engines, the cladding protecting the machinery against dirt and moisture as well as against corrosion. The cladding comprises at least one sheet (7) which is pulled or pushed over the parts (2 to 5) of the electrical machinery to be protected, can be bonded to the parts (2 to 5) and is shrunk tightly on to the enclosed parts (2 to 5). The cladding represents a simple method of protection, which is less polluting than conventional paint coatings and more suitable for commercial production in large quantities.
