The label-applying apparatus, which is used in connection with a rotary blow moulding machine, has a rotating shaft 40 which rotates intermittently through predetermined angles and is positioned parallel to the rotating shaft 2 for the rotor 7 of the blow moulding machine, which bears a number of split mould units 1a. The label-applying apparatus comprises rubber cups 51 for suction of labels 67, which cups are fastened to the ends of linkages 42, 49 which can be pivoted about pins 43 which are connected to the shaft 40. The labels 67 are positioned on the inner walls of the split mould halves 1 when the latter are open by a combination of the intermittent rotation of the shaft 40 and a pivoting movement of the linkages 41, 49. The labels 67 are held by means of vacuum suction, and they are fused firmly on a product when highly heated plastic material is applied under pressure to the inner wall of the mould 1a. A holder 37 for split mould halves is constructed in such a manner that a mould-clamping force is applied when a slider-crank mechanism associated with a cam follower 25 is in a dead point position. As no great force is transmitted to the cam follower 25 supported by the rotor 7, and as the rotor 7 is driven at constant speed, it is possible to carry out accurate positioning of the labels. <IMAGE>
