The service information system contains map and service data storage devices, a display for selective data display, a selection device and a controller. Special geographical regions, formed by sections of the map data, and special service data elements are selected. The controller reads the map and service data according to the selection device's signals and indicates the operational location on the displayed map section. The service data are also displayed. USE/ADVANTAGE - System can be used without users requiring access to detailed service information. Can be used in conjunction with map of navigation system used in motor vehicle showing geographical location of hotels, airports, etc.
