A heat exchanger and a method of operating the same are described. The heat exchanger has an essentially cylindrically symmetrical flow chamber 2, through which a first fluid flows in an essentially vertical direction. A second fluid flows inside tubes extending perpendicular thereto. According to the invention, interior components are provided to increase the mechanical stability (support plates 12). In addition, it is possible to instal antidrone plates parallel to the tubes for the purpose of damping sound vibrations. The distribution of the first fluid can be optimised by means of a specially configured baffle 10. |
