<p>PURPOSE:To mutually link arbitrary nerve cells by synaptic bond by sending a very small electric current along the surface of a substrate provided with nerve fibers and controlling direction of extension of nerve fibers. CONSTITUTION:Platinum electrodes 3 and 4 are attached to both ends of a substrate 1 subjected to surface treatment with collagen or poly-L-lysine 2. Then nerve fibers 5 are bonded to the substrate 1, 1-100nA/cm<2> very small electric current is sent along the surface of the substrate 1 and extension of the nerve fibers 5 is controlled in the direction of one electrode 4.</p> |
