In this process, the coke oven gas is desulphurised under reduced pressure by scrubbing with potash down to 0.2 to 0.5 g of H2S/mn<3> and subsequently desulphurised finely in a Stretford scrubber down to 2 to 5 mg of H2S/mn<3>. The acid gas from the potash scrubbing and the elemental sulphur from the Stretford scrubbing are then processed together either in the sulphuric acid plant or a Claus plant. |
