Construction and operation of electrochemical generators with zinc electrodes, constituting electrically rechargeable accumulators. The invention relates to a rechargeable accumulator with zinc negative electrodes, comprising a set of electrochemical cells for receiving an electrolyte for ionic conduction between a positive electrode and a zinc negative electrode limiting each cell, characterised in that the volume of electrolyte in each cell is sufficient for the zinc which oxidises during the accumulator discharge period to dissolve entirely in the form of basic zincates in the electrolyte employed, and in that the accumulator is suitable for being recharged in a pulsed regime.
