PURPOSE:To safely confirm identity without fail according to personal proper information by providing ciphering means, deciphering means and key generating means in terminal equipment and an information carrier. CONSTITUTION:When a first information carrier 20 is inserted to a terminal equipment 10, a cryptographic key is generated by a key generating means 25, ciphered by a first ciphering means 23 and transmitted to the terminal equipment 10. In the terminal equipment 10, the cryptographic key is deciphered by a first deciphering means 33 and by using this cryptographic key, a personal code to be generated from the personal proper information such as a fingerprint or handwriting, etc., is ciphered by a second ciphering means 34, transmitted to the first information carrier 20, deciphered and compared with a registered code. Thus, since the personal code to be generated from the personal property information is ciphered by using the cryptographic key to be generated by the first information carrier 20, these ciphered data can not be generated even when the third person obtains the first information carrier 20 and the personal code of the owner. Then, the information carrier can be prevented from being illegally used by the third person. |
