PURPOSE:To assure an electrode plate having higher energy efficiency with reduced self-discharge by processing surface roughness of a negative electrode-side electrode plate to be more than a specified value whereby improving adhesion of zinc. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene and Teflon being resistant against bromine are employed as a matrix, to which one kind out of carbon, carbon black, and graphite or a mixture thereof is added as an agent to provide conductivity thereto for forming it into an electrode plate. Surface roughness of the negative plate- side electrode plate is processed to be more than 0.1mum. For the above processing means, sand paper or etching process is employed, for example. Hereby, adhesion of electrodeposited zinc in the negative electrode is increased whereby voltage efficiency is improved, and thus dischargeable zinc is increased and thereby allows coulomb efficiency, voltage efficiency, and energy efficiency of the zinc-bromide cell to be improved. |
