摘要 PURPOSE:To test the large amount of color image pickup elements in a short time and to save labor by mechanically detecting the nonuniformity of color to be generated as an oblique pattern included in a color picture signal. CONSTITUTION:A converting means 20 is provided to convert picture data, which are obtained from the color image pickup elements, to hue pictures and saturation pictures, and a totalizing means 31 is provided to calculate the saturation distribution of each picture element in the saturation picture and to calculate a saturation value with the highest frequency. Then, memories 40R-40M are provided to pick up the color of the picture element equipped with the saturation value more than the prescribed ratio of this saturation value with the highest frequency, and to store the position of the picture element with the saturation value more than the prescribed ratio for each color. A correlation coefficient calculating means 41 is provided to calculate a correlation coefficient concerning X and Y coordinates in the distribu tion of this picture element position, and a regulating means 42 is provided to count the number of the picture elements with the saturation value more than the prescribed ratio, to divide this count value by the number of all the picture elements and to calculate and average value. Then, the correlation coefficient and the average value are multiplied by respective colors and the color picture signal is evaluated. Thus, the oblique pattern-shaped color nonuniformity to be generated in the color picture signal can be automatically detected.
