PURPOSE:To enable photography by program zooming over a wide distance range by controlling an optical zooming means and a trimming information setting means so that photographic magnification predetermined for a subject is obtained. CONSTITUTION:This camera is equipped with a photographic lens 1 consisting of a zoom lens, the optical zooming means which puts the photographic lens in zooming operation, and the trimming information setting means 11 which sets trimming information for artificial zooming. Further, the camera is equipped with a range finding means which measures the distance to the subject and a control means which controls the optical zooming means and trimming information setting means 11 according to the measured distance information so as to obtain the predetermined photographic magnification. Consequently, the range of the subject distance where the same photographic magnification is obtained becomes wider than that only by optical zooming and photography by program zooming is easily enjoyed for subjects over a wide range. |
