PURPOSE:To reduce the error rate of a medium by providing an oxidation preventing layer between a base body and a reflecting film. CONSTITUTION:An oxidation preventing layer 2 is provided between the base body 1 containing oxygen and the reflecting film 3 comprising a nitride containing at least one of titanium, zirconium and hafnium. The layer 2 prevents oxygen from entering the reflecting film 3 and maintains the reflectivity >70%. Nitrides such as silicon nitride, or sulfide such as zinc sulfide can be used for the oxidation preventing layer. These compds. are transparent for 780 nm wavelength light used for recording and reproducing and do not affect on recording/ reproducing. Thereby, the error rate of the medium can be reduced. |
