GRAPHIC CHARACTER DISPLAYING METHOD

摘要

PURPOSE:To reduce the storage capacity for font data and to shorten the time required to obtain a dot font by decoding data into necessary compressed character data corresponding to a character code. CONSTITUTION:A font cache table on a RAM 3 is referred to with the character code which is inputted from a host interface 4 and when the corresponding character font is not stored on a cache RAM 7, the character font which is compressed by a run-length encoding system is read out of an MMR font ROM 5 with the character code and decoded by a decoding part 6. Then font data of one page are stored on the RAM and supplied to a printer mechanism 10 through a page memory 8. The run-length system compressed font is stored on the ROM 5 and then the font storage capacity increases to easily and speedily decode the compressed font of the system and shorten the time required to obtain the dot font.
