摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To distribute air intake uniform by communicating remaining branch passages with each other through a communicating passage at the position where the remaining branch passage are equal to the shortest branch passage in length when respective branch passages are different in length from respective cylinders to a cluster joint. CONSTITUTION:The suction manifold 1 of a 4 cylinder in-line engine is made up out of No.1 through No.4 branch passages 4(41 through 44) which are communicated with the combustion chambers of No.1 through No.4 cylinder through respective intake ports at a cylinder head section, a cluster joint 5 where the upstream ends of the aforesaid branch passages 4 join, and of upstream passages 6 extending to the upstream side of the aforesaid cluster joint 5. In this case, No.2 and No.3 branch passages 42 and 43 at the inner side are so bent so to be roughly equal in length. And a communicating passage 7 is bridged between No.1 and No.4 branch passages 41 and 44 at the outer side to communicate the aforesaid branch passages with each other at the position where these passage are roughly equal to No.2 and No.3 branch passages 42 and 43 in length. This thereby permits the effective passage length of the respective branch passages for air intake inertia effect to be roughly identical.</p>
