PURPOSE:To damp shock due to torque at the transition time of operating conditions by controlling supercharging pressure to be increased for the specified period of time from the time before an exhaust cut valve is so actuated as to be opened to the time until supercharging pressure is built up to a specified one with said valve actuated to be opened when transition is required from a low air intake range to a high air intake range. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust passages 202 and 203 to which the turbines 203 and 207 of a primary and a secondary turbo-supercharger 204 and 206 are interposed respectively, are communicated with each other by a communicating passage 222 at the upstream sides of the respective superchargers 204 and 206 and an exhaust cut valve 223 is provided for the exhaust passage 203 at a position adjacent to the downstream of the open position of the communicating passage 222. In addition, a waste gate valve 227 acting as a supercharging pressure regulating means is provided for a waste gate passage 225 which communicates the middle of the communicating passage 222 with a joint exhaust passage 224. When the transition of operating conditions is required from a low air intake range to a high air intake range, the opening of the waste gate valve 227 is controlled in order to increase supercharging pressure for a specified period of time from the time before the exhaust cut valve 223 is so actuated as to be opened to the time until supercharging pressure is built up to a specified one with the aforesaid valve actuated to be opened. |
