摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain satisfactory gear shift characteristics by detecting the inertia phase of a second transmission part when a vehicle is in driving state at the time of execution of gear shift, and determining the switching timing of a first transmission part by a timer when the vehicle is in driven state. CONSTITUTION:In the execution of gear shift of an automatic transmission, for example, shift-up, the inertia phase of low gear shift in a second transmission part is detected, when the vehicle driving state is detected by a driving and driven state detecting means, the switching timing of the frictional engaging device of a first transmission part is determined, and high gear shift is executed, whereby up-shift is conducted as the whole. When the driven state is detected, the switching timing of the frictional engaging device of the first transmission part is determined by a timer after low gear shift of the second transmission part, whereby high gear shift is conducted. Hence, satisfactory gear shift characteristics can be obtained.
