PURPOSE:To obtain the title molding comprising a high-performance multi-dimensionally oriented material by melting a composition consisting of a specified wholly aromatic polyester and a specified high boiling and low molecular compound to form an unstretched film or a fibrous material, extracting the low molecular compound with an organic solvent, and then stretching and/or thermally fixing the formed material. CONSTITUTION:A composition composed of a substantially linear, wholly aromatic polyester which has, as principal repeating linkages, ester linkages consisting of a phenoxyterephthalic acid component and an aromatic dihydroxy compound component (e.g. hydroquinone) wherein two OH groups bonded to the aromatic nucleus tend to lengthen a chain in two directions opposite to each other and are positioned on the same axis or parallel axes and which has a specified intrinsic viscosity and melt viscosity and a high boiling and low molecular compound (e.g. 4,4'-bis(p-phenylphenoxy) diphenyl sulfone) which is substantially nonreactive with the polyester and has a molecular weight of 100 or lower is melted and formed into an unstretched film or a fibrous material. The major portion of the high boiling and low molecular compound is extracted with a specified organic solvent (e.g. dioxane), and the formed material is then stretched and/or thermally fixed. |
