PURPOSE:To provide an antitussive having a strengthened antitussive activity and not manifesting an adverse effect deteriorating the body dependency-forming ability of the antitussive by compounding L-tryptophan as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:1 pt.wt. of an antitussive ingredient is compounded with 2-50 pts.wt. of L-tryptophan and suitably with other conventional additives such as an excipient, a carrier, a diluent, etc., followed by preparing the mixture into the objective antitussive by a conventional method. The antitussive ingredient is one or more selected from dihydrocodeine, noscapine and dextromethophan. The antitussive can be prepared in a shape of an oral administration agent such as powder, syrup, tablets or granules or in a shape of a parenteral agent such injection or suppository. |
