The wheelbarrow has two pairs of pneumatic wheels. The lower wheels (25) are set on the outside of two support consoles on the barrow frame and the upper wheels (26) are set on the inside of the consoles, inside the line of the lower wheels. The axle spacing is approx. half a step height and the wheels have diameters greater than the step height. The wheels can be braked by a ratchet brake which allows the barrow to be pulled up the steps, but prevents it running down the steps. For level transport the brake is released.
