Microorganism immobilisation - by enclosing with carrier in polyurethane film

In the biological treatment of lignited it may be an advantage to enclose the microorganisms in movable solid elements. This immobilization is effected by producing spherical particles of up to 5 mm dia. from carriers and enclosed microorganisms and by coating them with polyol, followed by di- or poly-isocyanate to form a coherent thin PU film. ADVANTAGE - Diffusion is possible through pores in the PU film. The film is stable enough not to be destroyed by the free running action.
