In a heterogeneous catalysis, two basic substances(A,B) in fluid phase react with each other on a solid catalyst to form prods.. A permeable, e.g. porous material is used for the catalyst and at least one of the basic constituents is approached to the reaction surface of the solid catalyst through the material of the catalyst. Pref. a plate-type catalyst receives the first basic constituent(A) from a pump feeding it to a closed circuit with a circulator. This is e.g. NH3 which diffuses through the walls of the channels into the gaps to react with the NO of the flue gases(B) which pass for purificn. to the outlet chamber. The catalytic reaction on the surface produces N2 and H2O. ADVANTAGE - This achieves chemical reactions more effectively and more purposefully.
