PURPOSE:To obtain a video signal suitable for the standards of a picture without deterioration in the picture quality by providing a horizontal blanking width correction circuit magnifying only preceding and succeeding parts of a television video signal on the time axis into the horizontal direction and applying correction processing to both ends of the picture. CONSTITUTION:A horizontal blanking width correction circuit 20 is provided with an A/D converter circuit 4, a switching control circuit 5, memory circuits 6, 8, a magnification circuit 7, a switching circuit 9 and a D/A converter circuit 10. The switching control circuit 5 controls the switching circuit 9 so as to select digital signals d1, d2. An output of the switching circuit 9 is converted into an analog signal (a) by the D/A converter circuit 10 to be a video signal suitable for the standards of the picture without causing deterioration in the picture quality substantially. When the picture is magnified and only the peripheral part of the picture is magnified, no picture quality deterioration is caused in the middle part of the picture and the deterioration or the like in the picture quality is limited to the peripheral part only. |
