PURPOSE:To attain the connection with high efficiency for an optical fiber cable having a small core diameter, by adding a taper part having a decreasing diameter to the light emitting part of the optical fiber forming a launcher. CONSTITUTION:A launcher formed with an optical fiber 30 containing taper parts 301 and 302 at both sides is fixed into a support member 28 via an adhesive 29. In such a way, a launcher part 31 is formed. The end face having the minimum diameter of the part 301 is set opposite to the center of light emission of a light emitting diode 21, i.e., a light emitter; and the part 302 provided at the light emitting part is set opposite to the optical end face of an optical fiber cable. The spread of the light emitted from the launcher can be reduced owing to the existence of the part 302. As a result, the connection is possible with high efficiency for the optical fiber connected to the launcher regardless of a small diameter of the cable. |
