<p>Recordable/erasable optical storage media are disclosed. More particularly, it provides a method and apparatus for recording and erasing information on an optical storage medium (2). The medium of the present invention generally includes a rigid substrate (4), and expansion layer (6) adjacent the substrate (4) and a single, dual-purpose, metal retention/reflective layer (8) adjacent the expansion layer (6). A protective layer (10) may or may not be present. Additionally, methods for writing and erasing on these media are described.</p> |
