Synthesis gas is continuously produced by solar reforming methane, in which a fuel gas for convective warming of the reaction partner is heated with the solar energy to a high temp.. When there is a lack of solar energy an auxillary firing agent is used to heat the fuel gas. The novelty is that CO2 is likewise used as the fuel gas for CO2 reforming methane produced by auxillary firing and stored as the reaction partner for CO2 reforming. An appts. for carrying out the above process is also claimed. In the auxillary firing process methane is burned with O2-enriched air or with pure O2. The auxillary firing process is carried out without pressure via a burner or under pressure in a burner connected to a gas turbine.
