摘要 In the shell (1) of a projectile a holding ring (4) retains a metal insert (3) above the explosive charge (2, 3). A secure, shock resistant fixing of the holding ring (4) is achieved by in-situ foaming of an adhesive reactive polymer foam, typically epoxy or polyurethane. The foam forms a layer (5) between the holding ring (4) and insert (3) and penetrates holes (6) in the retaining ring (4) to fill a groove (8) in the shell (1). Thin gaps (9, 10) between the holding ring (4), shell (1) and insert (3) are also filled by foam. USE/ADVANTAGE - Prevents loosening of the retaining ring during ejection and braking phases of a sub-projectile ejected from a carrier projectile.
