<p>A structure, useful as a balustrade or fence, comprising a rail (10) attached to a plurality of pickets (12). The rail (10) has first and second longitudinal members (16, 18) that are pressed together to form the rail (10). There are spaced openings formed in one longitudinal member with an open edge for each opening at an edge of the longitudinal member. Channels are formed in each side of the picket member (12), adjacent an end of the picket member (12). There are projections (34, 36) on the first and second members (16, 18) adjacent to each opening. Each projection (34, 36) is received in a channel of a picket (12). The arrangement of channels and projections (34, 36) provides a rattle-free structure. The structure can be further improved by the incorporation of a settable compound to assist in the pressing together of the first and second members (16, 18).</p> |
