PLASTIC CLOSURE WITH TAMPER INDICATING BAND

This relates to a plastic closure for containers of the type wherein the closure is provided with a tamper indicating band which locks on to the closure and is connected to the closure skirt by frangible bridges or ribs. In lieu of equipping a mold with "slides" so as to form the bridges during the molding operation, a closure having the tamper indicating band forming a continuation of the closure skirt is provided, after which a blade having a notched edge is utilized to externally slit the body of the closure between the skirt and the tamper indicating band with the blade serving to separate the tamper indicating band from the lower edge of the skirt and at the same time forming the necessary rupturable bridges or ribs.
