A counterweight handling device for a crane, whereby said counterweight (20) can be fixed on a counterweight mounting frame (1) fixed on the rear end of swing frame after lifting up to the determined height by using chains (14) driven by lift cylinders (11, 12) and by fixing the weight on supports (2 or 3a). The supports can be rotary latches (2) or spring pins (3a) engaging in recesses (25) in vertical grooves (24) or V-shaped notches (25a) respectively. The lifting gear is accommodated in vertical grooves provided in the weight (20).
