The strip, advanced (2) between edge guide rollers (8,9) is bent by tools (4,3,11) each adjustable in orthogonal directions, to form a tube (16) guided by two rollers (12) motor-driven (14) along a horizontal spindle (14a) in a frame (13). This is raised and lowered by another motor (15) on a pedestal (10). The process is automated by the computer positioning the tools and rollers to vary the angle of radial and axial edge settings. ADVANTAGE - Breakage is practically excluded by use of only three bending tools, with doubly-loaded centre tool (3) guided e.g. by dovetails (5,6) throughout its length.
