The transport system in an underground mine has a tractor, for towing the trucks, powered by a compressed air motor. The compressed air is supplied through a flexible hose (2) which is supported on a plate (16) which is pivoted on a bolt fixed to a bracket (7) which is rigidly attached to the tractor (1). The plate (16) is normally prevented from pivoting by a shear pin (21). If an excessive load is applied to the hose (2) this pin (21) is sheared and the plate (16) swings about its pivot. This causes the flexible hose (2) to be compressed between a bolt (10) or (12) in the bracket and a bolt (18) or (19) in the plate (16), so that the air supply is shut off and the tractor is brought to rest.
