A pulsed stimulation of approximately two seconds duration is interposed across the electrodes with a magnitude of the successive pulses in each stimulation increasing linearly. An interval of approximately three seconds is interposed between successive stimulation. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the polarity of successive electrical stimulations is reversed.
