PURPOSE: To ensure high heat efficiency of heat exchange between an input air stream and an exhaust air stream, by providing a rotary wheel heat exchanger that uses a random matrix medium comprising a plurality of small diameter heat-retensive fiber material. CONSTITUTION: A random matrix medium of a heat exchanger 12 comprises a plurality of small diameter heat insulating fibrous materials. Such materials are mutually related with the aid of mechanical means serving to thrust a needle or thermal or chemical coupling means. In order to form an external appearance pattern to some degree or make such materials completely random such as finely cut wheat biscuits or crossed hatch shaped fibers, the fibers are formed into a mat shape. A turbulent flow which is taken into consideration rather than an air stream directed through a plurality of parallel passages is promoted with efficiency of the random matrix medium, and hence the turbulent flow is desirable which flow has resistance against the air stream that is not excessive. As a result, high exchange is achieved with high efficiency. |
