PURPOSE:To perform excellent control of gear shift in consideration of a road gradient by a method wherein fuzzy computation is made on a degree, at which a control rule is satisfied at each speed, according to a logic formula by which a degree to satisfy a subrule paying consideration to the road gradient is predetermined. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 4 calculates a road gradient from acceleration of a vehicle and an output from an engine 3. A rule satisfied at each speed of an automatic transmission 1 is formed with a plurality of subrules containing a subrule paying consideration to the road gradient. A degree at which a control rule is satisfied is determined by performing fuzzy computation of a degree, at which a subrule is satisfied, according to a predetermined logic formula. According to the degree, shift is effected to a speed at which a control rule is most satisfied. Excellent control of gear shift paying consideration even to a road gradient can be effected in formation extremely matching the will of a driver. |
